Deviled Eggs / Jajka Faszerowane Zoltkiem

Deviled Eggs / Jajka Faszerowane Zoltkiem

The deviled egg we know today can be traced back to ancient Rome, where boiled eggs were seasoned with spicy sauces and served as the starter of a fancy meal usually made for guests. Serving eggs while entertaining guests was so common for wealthy Romans that they even had a saying for it, “ab ova usque ad mala” meaning “from eggs to apples”, or from the beginning of a meal to the end. This is the most basic recipe for deviled egg which is usually served on Easter in our Polish homes, however this simple to make appetizer can be served any other day.

Ingredients

  • 4 Hard-boiled Eggs
  • 1 tbs Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • Salt to taste
  • White ground pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • Chives & radishes to garnish (Optional)

Instructions

  • Remove shells from eggs and slice in half lengthwise. Separate egg yolks and place into a bowl. Place egg whites on a separate plate. Add mayonnaise, mustard, turmeric, salt and pepper, to taste, to yolks and mash together with a fork until creamy and smooth. Using a large star tip and resealable plastic bag, pipe the yolk mixture back into each egg, enough to fill yolk holes completely. Garnish with chives, radish or how ever you prefer. I placed a blueberry on top of each one. Refrigerate. Serve cold. Enjoy and Smacznego!
