This is the very basic recipe for apple pie, easy to make and very delicious.

Ingredients

Ingredients For Shortcurst Dough:

  • 4 Cups All-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 8 Egg yolks
  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • 3-4 tbs Sour cream
  • 1-2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 Envelope of vanilla sugar (Optional)
  • Pinch of salt (Optional)

Ingredients For Apple Filling:

  • 2 kg Apples
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • Powder sugar for sprinkling (Optional)

Instructions

  • Pour the sifted flour onto the board, add cubed cold butter, baking powder and sugar. Chop the ingredients with a fine crumble knife. Add the eggs, sour cream and combine the ingredients into a uniform dough. Wrap in foil and put in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Wash, peel and core apples, cut them into slices and put them in a pot. Add cinnamon and sugar and saute over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, cover with lid. Saute until the apples are soft. Divide the dough into 2 parts. I divide the dough into 3/4 for the bottom of the baking pan and the remaining 1/4 of the dough for the top. Place the 1/4 of the dough in the freezer for about 30 minutes when slightly frozen it will be easier to grate it on a large grate for the topping sprinkling. Roll out the 3/4 of the dough and place in in the bottom of the baking pan. I used 13x9x2 inches baking pan. Heat the oven to about 320 degrees Fahrenheit. (Oven temperatures may vary). Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before serving. You may sprinkle it with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
