Quick Mushroom Sauce / Sos Pieczarkowy

Perfect sauce from steak to chicken, pork chops to roasts, smothered omelettes and baked potatoes. It’s a luxurious yet simple sauce you’ll make over and over again.

Ingredients

  • 300 g Champignon mushrooms (may use other mushrooms too, cooking directions may vary)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 120 ml half and half
  • 1 pinch salt to taste
  • 1 pinch pepper to taste
  • 1/2 bunch fresh parsley leaves or fresh dill (optional)

Instructions

  • Clean the mushrooms and cut them into slices. Peel onion and garlic, then chop finely.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a frying pan. Add the onion and fry until the onion turns golden brown. Add garlic and fry for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Add another tablespoon of butter to the onion and garlic and add the chopped mushrooms. Fry for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are browned. Season the mushrooms with salt.
  • Place half and half into the pan, season with pepper and add chopped parsley or dill. Simmer thoroughly until the sauce thickens. Enjoy!
