Fry chopped onion and ( bacon optional) on a tablespoon of butter or oil. I did not add bacon to mine. Cut the cabbage in half, shred into small pieces as shown above. When the (bacon optional) and onion brown, add the cabbage, mix everything well and fry. When the cabbage is in the pan, add broth or water, bay leaf, allspice, salt and a few pinches of black pepper. Cover and saute over medium heat for 20- 25 minutes depending on the age of the cabbage it should be soft. When the cabbage is soft, add butter, chopped dill and add flour while stirring or you may make a roux. Serve warm preferably with bread or potatoes and port chop. Smacznego!
