Ingredients

  • 300 g all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 150 ml milk
  • 25 g butter (melted)
  • 25 g yeast (fresh)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 pinch salt (optional)
  • 1 pinch sugar

Instructions

  • Dissolve yeast in 4 tbs of warm milk, sugar and 2 tbs of flour. Cover with clean cloth. Set aside to rise to a warm place about 20-30 minutes. The dough should double its self in size while rising.
  • Sift the remaining flour and add egg yolks to the risen dough. Add the melted butter towards the end and incorporate in to the batter adding salt (optional) last. Knead the dough well. Approximately 15 minutes. Cover with a cloth and set aside in a warm place to rise again. Approximately 1 – 1.5 hours. The dough is well risen when it doubles its size.
  • Cut dough in to 8 equal pieces. Form balls size of a little bigger than golf balls from the raised dough and place on a flour-dusted board or cookie sheet. Cover with a clean cloth and set in a warm place. When the dough balls have doubled its size, steam by using a steamer. Steam for 10-15 minutes.
  • Biscuits can be served hot or cold, with berry compote, jams, pork, sauce or butter, sugar and cinnamon. They are delicious with strawberries or blueberries mixed with sugar and sour cream or yogurt. Enjoy!
