Sautéed Apples in Sugar and Vanilla / Jabłka Prażone z Wanilią
Apple season is here and we can't eat all, but we can preserve that fresh taste in the jars by the process of pasteurizing. Get soft, delicious, cooked apples by sautéing them in sugar and vanilla which will come in handy during the winter months. They are perfect not only for apple pies, but also for crepes, pancakes, ice creams, meats, rice, and variety of desserts. I also make sautéed apples with cinnamon. Either way they taste great.

Ingredients
- 2 kg fresh apples (I used variety)
- 100 ml's water
- 120 grams granulated white sugar (May use brown sugar)
- 1 lemon squeezed juice of 1 medium lemon
- 18-20 grams vanilla sugar
- cleaned jars (I used 2 jars 760 ml each)
Instructions
- Peel the apples and divide them into quarters. Cut out the cores. Cut the quarters into small cubes. Place cubed apples in a large pot over medium heat. Pour water, add sugar, vanilla sugar, and the juice of a one medium lemon to the apples. Stir everything with a spoon. Lemon juice is used to keep apples from darkening.
- Sautee the apples for about 15 minutes or until desired consistency. Once the apples have achieved the desired consistency place apples immediately into clean jars, cover tightly and invert the jars up side down until they are cooled.
- Once cooled you can place them in a cool place like the basement or pantry. They should be good until the next season. Enjoy!
